Principal's Message

At Greenville School, we strive to fulfill the District goal of cultivating caring, globally aware, well-rounded and academically prepared children. It is thrilling to watch our kindergartners entering our building each fall, excited and ready to learn, knowing that what lies ahead is a seven-year journey in which they will grow personally, socially and academically.   Collaboration between staff, students and members of the community is a hallmark of Greenville School. All members of our tight-knit community work together to create a warm, supportive, challenging and mutually respectful learning environment.  Academically, we focus on encouraging our students to set and reach high goals with an emphasis on individual development as opposed to arbitrarily set benchmarks. Our teachers are attentive to ensuring that our students receive instruction designed to prepare them for being world citizens and for advancing in their academic careers. At the same time, teachers are encouraged to use creative and individualized approaches and to inspire passion about learning – ultimately, creating life-long learners is our primary goal.

I am excited about the launch of the newly redesigned Greenville Website where you will find resources, information, announcements and lots of fun images and “blurbs” about the many exciting events, programs and initiatives taking place in Greenville. The website, and our twitter feed (GreenvillePrinc), provide great opportunities to keep abreast of what is going on and to share in your children’s experiences. Your feedback about the site is welcome as we continue to explore how to enhance it and provide you with interesting and valuable content. Please check in with the site often as we will be updating it with new photos and information designed to give you a glimpse into the wonderful world of Greenville School!

Best wishes,

Jennifer Allen

  • Definition of a Union Free School District

The New York State School Boards Association's School Law compendium (35th Edition), defines it as follows:

"A union free school district is a school district generally formed from one or more common school districts to operate a high school program, which common school districts cannot do. First authorized by legislation in 1853, union free school districts are administered by a school board of between three and nine members."
