Principal's Welcome
Dear Greenville Families,
It is with immense joy and pride that I welcome you to the 2025-2026 school year at Greenville Elementary School. For the past six years, I have been honored to serve as a Greenville administrator, following thirteen years as a reading specialist here. In my various roles as principal, assistant principal, reading specialist, testing coordinator, and co-leader of Greenville’s Student Council, I have built meaningful relationships with countless students and families. I am thrilled to continue this journey, fostering an inclusive and nurturing environment where every student thrives, as we uphold our commitment that “All Means All.”
As a twenty-six-year veteran educator, my passion for student growth and educational excellence drives my work. My career began in New York City Public Schools, where I taught fourth through sixth grades and served as a literacy coach for pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. Before joining Greenville, I taught undergraduate and graduate education courses at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I bring this diverse experience, a student-centered approach, and an openness to learning to my role as principal. I am dedicated to advancing our mission to provide a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every student from Kindergarten through 6th grade flourishes academically, socially, and emotionally.
In line with our vision, we aim to prepare and motivate students for a rapidly changing world by cultivating creativity, curiosity, critical thinking, and a global perspective, while instilling core values of honesty, perseverance, and compassion. This year, we will continue to explore innovative ways to meet the needs of all students, ensuring every child is empowered to excel and contribute positively to our community and beyond. Our “All Means All” Committee will partner with families and the community to celebrate diversity through recognition events and communications, reflecting our commitment to inclusivity. For updates on celebration dates or to suggest additional ones, please contact emoselhi@edgemont.org.
My door is always open to your ideas, feedback, and collaboration. Together, let’s keep our students at the heart of our work, celebrating their successes and equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to face tomorrow’s challenges. I look forward to working with your children, their teachers, and you as we make this school year a time of growth, joy, and achievement.
Sincerely,
Marisa Ferrara
